TV Answer Man, any word on whether T-Mobile will offer the MLS Season Pass plan for free this year? The season starts today and I’m not subscribing unless it’s for free!! — Frank, Arlington, Virginia.

Frank, T-Mobile, the wireless service, last year included the $99 MLS Season Pass subscription for free to T-Mobile and Metro by T-Mobile customers. However, CNET’s Eli Blumenthal reports today that the company says it has no plans to offer the Major League Soccer plan as a free add- on in 2024.

With the MLS season starting today, that means you will need to subscribe to the Season Pass package to watch the games. Unlike last year, there are also no one-month or one-week free trials available with the service. (MLS season ticket holders are still getting Season Pass for free with their plans, however.) It would appear that Apple, which holds the rights to the Season Pass, is determined to make the package a standalone business this year rather than a mix of freebies, reduced and regular price subscribers.

If you’re an Apple TV+ subscriber, you can get the MLS Season Pass for $79 for the full season or $12.99 per month. If you’re not an Apple TV+ customer, the price is $99 for the full season or $14.99 per month.

The MLS Season Pass includes every game with no blackouts. The 2024 season starts tonight with Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami playing Real Salt Lake at 8 p.m. ET.

Frank, hope that helps. Happy viewing and stay safe!
