Peacock to Add 18 New Titles This Week – Here Are the 3 Most Interesting

Peacock this week (December 8-14, 2024) plans to add 18 new TV shows and movies to its streaming lineup. Here are the three most interesting, in my humble opinion:

The Day Of The Jackal, Season 1 Finale – Peacock Original
Eddie Redmayne (The Good Nurse) would not be my first choice to play an assassin in this remake of the 1973 film, but the Peacock original series has accumulated an 82 score at Rotten Tomatoes so the critics are definitely on board. If you didn’t see the original, the movie follows the assassin as he tries to kill a political leader except this version is set in Germany rather than France. The final two episodes air on Peacock on Thursday, December 12. Previous episodes now available on Peacock.

Paris & Nicole: The Encore, Season 1 (Peacock Original)
If you’re under the age of 30 (or perhaps even under 90), this might not mean much to you. But Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie were early reality TV stars in the equally early 00s for their show, The Simple Life, which featured the socialites slumming odd jobs in rural towns. Peacock will try to recreate the magic with The Encore, a new reality show that has the 40-something P & N producing an opera, working at a Sonic fast-food stop and engaging in other hijinks. (I warned you these are the most interesting shows, not necessarily the best.)

Richard Ramirez: The Night Stalker Tapes (Peacock Original)
Peacock, which last month aired newly discovered recordings of the murdering mastermind, Charles Manson, is returning to the dark well again with a two-episode show featuring, yes, newly discovered recordings of Richard Ramirez, aka The Night Stalker. Ramirez terrorized Los Angeles in the 1980s by murdering more than a dozen people over two years and the tapes apparently offer new revelations on how he did it and how he got away with it for so long. I would say this is just more cheap ratings fodder, but the Manson show was actually well done. Debuts Tuesday, December 10.
