DIRECTV vs. Disney: DIRECTV Subs Miss Monday Night Football – And They Are Mad!

The DIRECTV-Disney dispute got ugly last night when many DIRECTV subscribers were unable to watch the Monday Night Football game between the 49ers and Jets because of the blackout of Disney’s ESPN, ABC in eight markets on satellite and all markets on DIRECTV streaming.

Despite DIRECTV’s offer of a $30 credit to subscribe to Fubo or Sling TV, both of which carry ESPN (the game was on ABC and ESPN), many subs were planning to watch the game on their provider of choice, DIRECTV. When the game did not come on, thousands of fans took to social media forums to express their anger at one or both companies.

Here’s a sampling of the comments from X, formerly known as Twitter.

“I’m not sure who I’m more pissed off at, Directv or Disney. Disney is starting their own streaming sports service yet still wants more money from Directv. Disney is charging coming and going,” posted Patrick Torres.

“F you @DIRECTV @ABC @Disney  Greedy F*cks!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cancel my accounts,” added @rainycitycard.

“@DIRECTV I’m giving you until Friday, or you’re losing my subscription and I’m going to another provider. This fiasco with @Disney @ABC  and @espn is dumb. Get it solved or I’m just the next one that’s gonna be gone,” wrote ‘El Brian de Barr.

“DIRECTV< not being able to watch MNF on week 1 because of Disney negotiations right after announcing a price increase is losing you a customer tomorrow,” said Stefan Mumaw.

“The greed that these two companies have is staggering. We are unable to view the channels that we pay for. Both of these companies make plenty of money off of the viewers,” wrote Steven Riffle.

So @Disney @DIRECTV  and @Uverse  are three children making news, entertainment, and information unavailable. Are you three that hurting for revenue? Show some humanity and let us have ABC on Directv. Stop being si sekfush!” added ‘Jays Comments.’

“Day 3 of no ESPN because 2 MULTI BILLION DOLLAR CORPORATIONS are having a pissing match over a few dollars.@Disney and @DIRECTV  are both putting out statements about how much “they care about their customers” which is total bull—-. Neither one gives a damn about their customers,” said Im_Just_SayingX.

“This is a bait and switch. They offer a $30 “rebate” but @FUBOTV  and @Sling  will, after a 7 day “free” trial, end up costing at least $60 per month over and above the $100+ fee for Direct TV. @Disney  and@DirectTV  are $ multi billion companies in a lover’s spat and we pay,” wrote Rob Torrez.

“All these cable companies are so trash. Can’t watch MNF cause DirecTV beefing with Disney. Can’t use Xfinity login on any apps to stream cause their network or some shit is down. Like what good are yall fr,” wrote ‘DamnThatsCrazy.’

The subscriber unrest may escalate again tonight when the Trump-Harris presidential debate airs on ABC although the program will be available on networks that are not blacked out on DIRECTV.
