Dish to Raise Prices By $5 a Month

Dish has revealed at its web site that it will raise prices on most programming packages by $5 a month, effective November 16, 2021.

The satcaster blamed rising programming acquisition costs for the increase, the same reason it (and other pay TV providers) has offered for years. Dish last raised prices in January of this year when it hiked most programming packages by $5 a month.

“At DISH, we continue to invest in your service and technology to make improvements and provide you with the best TV viewing experience at the best value,” the Dish site states. “However, the price that we pay for programming continues to rise. In fact, the fastest growing cost we and all other TV providers have is driven by the cost we pay the programmers. We will continue to work hard for fair deals with these programmers to keep channel costs and the price you pay as low as possible. Unfortunately, you may have observed some channel interruptions because of this. Due to these rising costs of programming, we will be increasing the cost of our package offerings beginning .”

Dish is now engaged in a 13-day carriage dispute with Tegna’s 64 network affiliates over fees. The satellite service is also negotiating with Sinclair for a new agreement for its 100 plus local stations, and possibly, Sinclair’s 19 Bally Sports regional sports networks.

The new $5 a month price hike covers the following packages. The new price, which will be effective November 16, is to the left with the size of the price hike to the right.

At this point you assume that Dish is a shell company being run by YouTube TV or Fubo or any other streaming provider and that their goal is to get everyone to cut the cord. What a ridiculous thing to raise prices at a time when you took away our local channels (tegna).

Was going to say the same thing.

Stop showing us your vice-president talking about Tegna trying to take advantage of us, then raise prices, and I’m assuming, not giving us the station back (Or Root Sports for that matter).

No local baseball the entire season and another price hike? Adios DISH! I’m going back to the local cable company no matter how hillbilly it can be. Better and quicker service too.

Dish’s programming lineup is so unstable due to carriage fights that the platform is no longer worth the prices it now charges.

I agree with all of these comments. It is not fair for DISH to raise prices when they said they were bargaining for our sports and then we lost FSW and then they take away ABC and once again they say they are bargaining for us again and still no ABC. Now they want to raise prices again for less products ? Are you serious ? The only way I will pay more is if you get FOX SOUTH WEST and ABC and other local channels back. Otherwise, take your station and shove it !

Have no idea where the $5 increase came from. My increase is $10. Doesn’t matter as I’ Leaving in March when my commitment is up. No more satellite complies ever again.
