Netflix over the weekend added 26 new movies to its streaming lineup. Here are the three best, in my humble opinion:

Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty in Bonnie and Clyde.

Bonnie & Clyde (1967)
Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway star in this fanciful retelling of the 1930s bank robbing team of Clyde Barrow and Bonnie Parker. The film, which was inspired by the era’s New Wave films in France, puts style ahead of substance but it’s a juicy mix of iconoclastic acting and class warfare. (The cinematic Clyde justifies his actions by saying the banking industry is exploiting the poor while the real Clyde was merely a bloodthirsty thief.) Both stars are in fine form and the direction (Arthur Penn) and script (Robert Benton and David Newman) are first rate. Also look for fun supporting performances from Gene Hackman, Estelle Parsons, Gene Wilder and Michael J. Pollard.

Devil In a Blue Dress (1995)
Based on the Walter Mosley novel, Denzel Washington is as cool as the other side of the pillow playing Easy Rawlins, a down-on-his-luck detective who’s hired to find a missing woman (Jennifer Beals). The neo-noir takes a predictable path but Denzel’s performance is so dynamic that you’re happy to follow along with every step. Don Cheadle is also outstanding in a pre-Boogie Nights role as Easy’s buddy, Mouse, a man with a fast trigger-finger.

Dumb and Dumber (1994)
It’s hard to believe but this year marks the 30th anniversary of Dumb and Dumber, which stars Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels as bumbling boobs who want to open a pet shop in Providence, Rhode Island. The problem is that Lloyd and Harry are total bird brains who can’t stop getting into one scrape after another. Directed by Peter Farrelly, who co-wrote the script with brother Bobby, Dumb and Dumber is a classic comedy that you can’t help but laugh at no matter how stupid the boys are as well as the film’s scenarios.
