Dish Network, the nation’s second leading satellite TV service, is now offering new customers the ads-included Netflix plan for two years at no additional cost. (New customers must agree to a two-year agreement.) Existing Dish customers who sign up for a new two-year agreement will also get the Netflix with ads plan for free as part of their lineup, the company announced. (Netflix with ads normally costs $6.99 a month.)

The satcaster, which has lost roughly 5.4 million subscribers in the last eight years, is trying to use its most formidable video competitor to keep old subscribers and attract new ones. The cost of Netflix’s ads-included plan over two years would now be $168, which would give Dish customers who currently get Netflix a significant savings. However, Dish subscribers who get the two-year agreement are subject to a $20 a month penalty for every month left in the contract if they cancel early.

“Finding something new to love has never been easier,” Gary Schanman, executive vice president and group president of Dish video services, said in a statement. “We’re committed to enhancing our customers’ viewing experience by offering them the best content in the most convenient way possible. Our new Dish and Netflix bundle is a testament to that commitment.”

To get Netflix on Dish, customers must have eligible equipment which includes the Hopper with Sling, Hopper 3, Hopper Duo or Wally receiver. Dish subscribers can also get a discount on Netflix’s ads-free plans. Click here to learn more about the Dish/Netflix deal.
