Amazon’s Prime Video next month (June 2024) plans to add 136 new TV shows and movies to its Prime membership lineup. Here’s the three most interesting, in my humble opinion:

Federer: Twelve Final Days (Amazon Original)
Filmmakers Asif Kapadia and Joe Sabia were given exclusive access to tennis legend Roger Federer during his last 12 days of play in 2022 and the result is this Amazon original documentary which features private home videos and interviews with rivals and friends including Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokivic and Andy Murray. Debuts June 20.

Oppenheimer (2023)
Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer opened in theaters last summer and it certainly wasn’t a bomb. The film, which generated rave reviews from critics and theatergoers, made roughly $1 billion worldwide. And now you can watch it at home for free with your Amazon Prime membership. Oppenheimer stars Cillian Murphy as the brilliant but troubled scientist, J. Robert Oppenheimer, who led the U.S. mission to build the first atomic bomb. Debuts June 18.

The Boys, season four (Amazon original)
The Amazon original comedy/adventure series asks the question: What could happen if our superheroes decided to turn on us? And, we had to band together to stop them? The premise seems a touch perverse, even in today’s cynical age, but Amazon has successfully turned the idea now into four seasons and the critics seem to love it. The first three seasons generated scores of 85, 97, and 98 respectively at Rotten Tomatoes. The pleasing cast includes Jack Quaid, Karl Urban, Erin Moriarty and Antony Starr. Debuts June 13.
