TV Answer Man, today is the birthday anniversary of President Lincoln. Do you know where you can stream the Steven Spielberg movie about the president? I want to show it to our daughter. — Ellie, Evanston, Illinois.

Ellie, you’re right. Today (February 12) is the day when our 16th president, Abraham Lincoln, was born. Over the years, Hollywood has produced several films featuring Lincoln and his role in preserving the Union and eliminating slavery. But the most recent, and arguably the best, was Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln, which was released in 2012.

The film stars Daniel Day-Lewis as the 16th president. The movie gets a bit maudlin at times, but it’s a must-see for Day-Lewis’ channeling of the man who guided us during the most critical time in our nation’s history. There may not be a better living actor than DDL and Lincoln is the perfect showcase for his unique talents. Watch this film and you’ll think Lincoln is still alive.

Lincoln also benefits from a strong supporting cast including Sally Field as Mrs. Lincoln, David Strathairn as Secretary of State William Seward, Jared Harris as General Ulysses S. Grant and Bruce McGill as Secretary of War Edwin Stanton.

And how can you watch Lincoln today? The movie is now available for streaming on Paramount Plus with Showtime. If you don’t want to pay for a subscription, it’s also available for pay per view on Amazon Prime Video for $4.29.

And speaking of Lincoln, Apple TV+ on March 15 will debut its new series, Manhunt, which chronicles the frantic chase to find John Wilkes Booth after he assassinated Lincoln at Ford’s Theater.

Ellie, hope that helps. Happy viewing and stay safe!
