The TV Answer Man –Follow me on X.

TV Answer Man, I keep seeing that DIRECTV commercial with the birds talking about streaming. Do you know who does the voices? They sound very, very familiar. — Deke, Lima, Ohio.

Deke, you are talking about a new DIRECTV ad campaign called ‘For the Birds,’ which features two animated pigeons who lament that there are fewer satellite dishes to perch on because more people are watching TV via streaming. But the pigeons then say in the spot that you can get DIRECTV via Internet, which is the company’s streaming service that comes with a DIRECTV-supplied set-top called Gemini. (This is not to be confused with DIRECTV Stream, a separate DIRECTV streaming service that’s available on smart TV devices such as Roku and Fire TV.)

So, who does the voices of the two pigeons?

Since the two birds pose as New York-sounded wise alecks, there could not have been a better choice to do the voices: Steve Buscemi and Henry Winkler, both of whom have played their fair share of New York-sounded wise alecks over the years.

You can listen to Buscemi and Winkler in this DIRECTV ‘For the Birds’ spot below:

Deke, hope that helps. Happy viewing and stay safe!
