TV Answer Man, do you know if Charter’s Spectrum TV will have the Super Bowl in 4K? — Paul, Santa Monica, California.
Paul, Charter’s Spectrum TV is now the nation’s leading pay TV operator, measured in terms of the number of subscribers. The cable op just passed Comcast, the previous leader in subscribers among cable, satellite and live streaming services. Holding that distinction, you would think Spectrum TV would be a slam dunk for offering the nation’s number one sporting event, the 2024 Super Bowl, in the best picture format possible.
Right? Wrong.

Charter’s Spectrum TV has never offered anything in 4K and it isn’t starting with this year’s Super Bowl which will be played this Sunday (February 11) at 6:30 p.m. ET. The cable company has never explained why it doesn’t provide 4K programming — and, trust me, we’ve asked — but it’s unfortunate for the millions of people who subscribe and own 4K TVs.
So who will carry the Super Bowl in 4K? Comcast’s Xfinity, DIRECTV, DIRECTV Stream, Dish, FuboTV, Verizon, Altice’s Optimum TV and YouTube TV. They will all have the big game on special 4K channels. Paramount Plus, which will stream the game, will offer it in 1080p HD, not 4K. (Just to be sure, we’ve asked CBS again today if there’s any chance of that changing. But as of now, no 4K Super Bowl on Paramount Plus. If we learn anything new from CBS, we will update this article.)
