TV Answer Man, we lost the Newsy channel on our Charter Spectrum TV lineup. Do you know what happened to it? Is this another fight over money? — Joe, Tuskegee, Alabama.
Joe, Charter’s Spectrum TV service is not the only pay TV provider to lose Newsy in the last few weeks. But it has nothing to do with fee fights. Let me explain.
Newsy, a no-frills news channel owned by Scripps, has been pulled from several cable and satellite operators. The reason: On October 1, Scripps plans to make Newsy a digital channel that will be available via TV antennas. The signal will be offered as a sub-channel on Scripps’ ION networks, and some Scripps-owned local stations.

Scripps believes that Newsy has great potential delivering free 24/7 news to cord-cutters who have abandoned traditional pay TV services, which explains why it no longer wants Newsy on cable and satellite. (YouTube TV lost Newsy as well.)
In that spirit, Newsy is still available as an app on streaming devices, such as Roku. Apple TV and Amazon Fire TV and will continue to be when it becomes a digital channel on October 1.
“Amid an increasingly polarized and divided national climate, Newsy will seize upon this opportunity to serve more Americans seeking quality objective journalism,” Scripps Networks President Lisa Knutson said last April in the company’s announcement regarding the switch to digital.
So, Joe, you can still watch Newsy now, but you’ll have to invest in a streaming device to do so until October 1.

I love the Newsy channel. I recently discovered this very informative News channel while using my antenna which cost me zero dollars. I cut the cord to the expensive Comcast back in 2010. Saving myself $135 a month, 11 years later I’ve never looked back.
What kind of antenna. What state d you live in and receive channels. Do you get more then news
I’ve used a moen antenna for 10 yrs with 1 replacement. In WA state. About 40 channels reaching 30 MI north of Seattle. Do not get PBS. But did when I was closer to Seattle. Thrilled to get newsy as want to watch in-depth news that is not prognostication, screaming and slanted “news”. Thrilled! All 40 channels not available daily and have to change antenna position for additional channel coverage. But always something. Since NEWSY is on ION (33. Channels. 33-7. Able to watch last presidential news conference and not somebody telling me version of what was said or sound bites. Hope they will show Jan 6 hearings if they are broadcast. Helps they started near Columbia school of journalism in Mo and are owned by Scripps.
I also have an antenna that I bought from Roses and I get 44 channels. It is on top of my roof and it travels 70 mile radius north of Charlotte.
Me too. I did not like the extra expenses and making us pay to lease equipment we’d never own. My HD antenna is great!
I hope we can continue getting this news channel..cant trust most of others for balanced reporting. Unfortunately….keep providing truth in reporting.
I love and appreciate the content on Newsy. So many stories throughout the day. Real news instead of commentary or opinion passing as news. Relevant issues that corporate media avoids. I am impressed. I watch on a tiny antenna.

I watched a few times awhile back and saw mostly LAMESTREAM MOCKINGBIRD MEDIA COMPLEX propaganda parroting.
I’ve seen nothing on there I want to see.
