TV Answer Man, I heard that LG is recalling some TVs including OLED TVs for some reason. Do you know anything about this? — Glenn, New Bern, North Carolina.

Glenn, there are no current recall notices for LG TVs, OLED TVs included. In 2020, LG announced that it was recalling 18 different OLED models that were sold between February 2016 and September 2019 in South Korea. The last three words are the important ones here hence the italics. This recall did not include any OLED TVs sold in the United States, which, of course, would include New Bern.

The TV maker said it was recalling about 60,000 OLEDs because of reports that some internal components were underperforming, which could lead to overheating issues with the motherboard.

The recalled models were:

OLED65E6
OLED65G6
OLED77G6
OLED65B7
OLED65C7

OLED65E7
OLED65G7
OLED65W7
OLED77G7
OLED77W7

OLED65G8
OLED65W8
OLED77C8
OLED77W8
OLED65W9

OLED77B9
OLED77C9
OLED77W9

LG said OLED sets sold in other markets, such as the United States, showed no signs of similar problems.

Then in January 2023, LG announced the recall of some 86-inch models (not OLEDs) due to reports of tipping over. The affected models, which included those sold in the United States, were: 86UQ8000AUB, 86UQ7070ZUD, 86UQ7590PUD, and 86NANO75UQA.

However, since then, there have been no LG TV recalls.

Glenn. hope that helps. Happy viewing and stay safe!
