Q. When is DIRECTV going to start offering some NBA games in 4K. They did last year. Won’t there be any this season? — Otto, Denver. 

Otto, AT&T, which owns DIRECTV, has just revealed at its web site that the satellite TV service will air 21 NBA games in 4K HDR this season, starting with the Los Angeles Clippers-Dallas Mavericks game on Tuesday, November 26 at 8:30 p.m. ET

The company says the games will air on DIRECTV’s channel 105.

In addition to Tuesday night’s broadcast, DIRECTV will also air the following NBA games in 4K HDR during December:

December 4
Los Angeles Lakers at Utah, 9 p.m. ET

December 9
Detroit at New Orleans, 8 p.m. ET

December 17
Phoenix at Los Angeles Clippers, 10:30 p.m. ET

December 22
Los Angeles Clippers at Oklahoma City, 7 p.m. ET

DIRECTV will also air the following two NFL Thursday Night games in 4K HDR on channel 105

December 5
Dallas Cowboys at Chicago Bears, 8 p.m. ET

December 12
New York Jets at Baltimore Ravens, 8 p.m. ET

Note: HDR, which stands for High Dynamic Range, can add more vivid and realistic colors to a 4K broadcast as well as greater contrast. To watch live 4K on DIRECTV, you must get a compatible 4K TV, a DIRECTV HD DVR54 Genie System (or above), and installation of the Genie by a DIRECTV technician.
