Netflix this week plans to add 19 new TV shows and movies to its streaming lineup, including 16 originals. (Note: Netflix labels a show an ‘original’ even if it first airs in another country, but airs first on Netflix in the United States.)
The new titles will include season three of The Crown, the Netflix original drama about the life of Queen Elizabeth II with Olivia Colman now in the title role (replacing Claire Foy). Season three will focus on her majesty’s life in the sometimes turbulent but always swinging 1960s.
Rottentomatoes.com, which tracks critical reviews, gave season two a score of 90 out of a possible 100, based on a survey of 82 critics.
“The Crown continues its reign with a self-assured sophomore season that indulges in high drama and sumptuous costumes,” the site states, summarizing the reviews.
Also notable this week: Season eight of The Trolls: The Beat Goes On, the Netflix original kids show based on the hit DreamWorks movie.
