Hulu this week plans to add 12 new TV shows and movies to its subscription Video on Demand service, including the penultimate episode of a much buzzed about original show.
The new titles will include episode seven (the next-to-last one) of The Act, Hulu’s original drama starring Patricia Arquette and Joey King as a mother/daughter whose relationship is way too close for comfort. Based on a real-life situation, the first six episodes have generated widespread critical acclaim with some critics calling for Emmys for both Arquette and King for their fragile, nuanced performances.
RottenTomatoes.com, which tracks critical reviews, has given The Act a score of 91 out of a possible 100 with 30 of 33 critics surveyed saying they like it.

“Disturbingly nuanced performances from Patricia Arquette and Joey King make The Act a convincing case for the ongoing dramatization of true crime stories,” the site writes, summarizing the reviews.
