Q. I see that Comcast has Netflix now, but I was wondering if you can get Netflix’s 4K lineup while watching it on Comcast? — Jen, Miami.
Jen, as you note, Comcast is now offering Netflix as one of its streaming services on its X1 set-top. And, yes Jen, you can watch Netflix’s 4K programming (including 4K HDR) using the Netflix app on the Comcast X1.
However, there are a few requirements, perhaps more than you’re used to when watching Netflix. And here they are:
1. You must have a 4K or 4K HDR TV.
2. You must have an Xfinity X1 set-top that is 4K compatible. (If you’re not sure yours is, call Comcast. The box model you will need is called the XG1v4.)
3. Your 4K TV’s HDMI port (where the Comcast cable connects) must be HDCP 2.2 compliant. (Consult your TV’s manual to ensure your TV is.)
4. You must have a subscription to Netflix premium plan, which includes four simultaneous streams, and 4K programming. The cost is $13.99 a month.
If you have all that, you’re good to go.
