Netflix this week plans to add 15 new TV shows and movies to its streaming lineup, including 12 originals.

The new title list is headlined by The Ballad of Buster Scruggs (pictured above), the Coen brothers’ made-for-Netflix western anthology film starring Tim Blake Nelson, James Franco, Zoe Kazan and Tom Waits.

The six-chapter movie is likely to serve up the Coens’ usual mix of black comedy and stark drama with a side order of irony. No one does quirky like Ethan and Joel Coen and their first project for Netflix is much-anticipated.

RottenTomatoes.com, which tracks critical reviews, gives the movie a score of 94 out of a possible 100 with 63 of 67 critics saying they liked it.

“Strikes me as mid-to-upper range Coen fare… [Includes] their extraordinary jeweler’s-eye attention to detail, their gift for concocting dialogue in plummy 19th-century vernacular, their lyrical embrace of wide-open landscapes, and their woeful nihilism,” writes Peter Rainer of The Christian Science Monitor.

Also notable this week: Netflix’s original cartel drug drama, Narcos, returns for another season. This installment will be based in Mexico.
