Q. A buddy at work told me someone is having a free preview of the NFL RedZone channel this Sunday, but he couldn’t remember who! Do you know? Please tell me it’s DIRECTV Now, which I subscribe to! — Dave, Kansas City.

Dave, I have good news and bad news for you. The good: There is a free preview of the NFL RedZone channel this Sunday  The Bad: It’s not on DIRECTV Now.

However, it is on DIRECTV Now’s chief live streaming rival, Sling TV.

Sling’s Blue subscribers this Sunday will automatically see the RedZone channel appear in their channel guide, following the NFL Network. The channel, which normally costs $10 per month in Sling’s Sports Extra add-on package, will be free all day.

By the way, Sling TV has two different base packages, one called Orange, which starts at $25-a-month and includes ESPN and roughly 30 cable networks. The other package, called Blue, also costs $25-a-month, and includes more than 40 channels including live network feeds in select markets as well as several Fox channels.

And if you’re not familiar with the NFL RedZone channel, it airs live scoring plays of all the day’s games as well as other highlights in real time.

Happy Viewing!
