Q. I subscribe to NBC Sports Chicago on DIRECTV Now and I’m planning a trip next week to Kansas City. My question is will I be able to watch the Chicago Cubs on NBC Sports Chicago on DIRECTV Now while I’m in Kansas City? — Marie, Chicago.
Marie, I am sorry to report that the answer is no.

DIRECTV Now, the live streaming service owned by AT&T, does not permit you to watch a local channel or regional sports channel while you are traveling outside the channel’s territory.

In this case, you obviously can watch NBC Sports Chicago while you are in the greater Chicago area. But once you travel outside that market, DIRECTV Now says the stream would be interrupted during the service’s next scheduled geo-location check.
They do the checks fairly regularly so you might get an inning or two of a Cubs game, but that’s about it.
DIRECTV Now says when you try to watch the channel outside your market, a message will soon be displayed that says, “Program not available on current location.”
Just so I don’t leave you feeling too bad, you might want to consider Sony’s PlayStation Vue, which actually does permit watching regional sports channels while on the road. For more information, click here.

I have Directv Now live in the Kansas City market, but receiving St. Louis Cardinals programming. Neither the KC Royals are Cardinals games are broadcast live I have chatted with DTVN 4 times about this and they assure me it will be fixed. I talked to a live person each time. Still not fixed been over a month.
