DIRECTV tells the TVAnswerman.com that it will air all 64 games of the 2018 World Cup live and in 4K HDR (High Dynamic Range.)

The much-anticipated soccer tournament, which will be held in Russia, will start this month with a June 14 first round matchup between Russia and Saudi Arabia at 11 a.m. Eastern time.

AT&T, which owns DIRECTV, posted a web page earlier this week showing that the satcaster would air 28 first round games in 4K HDR. (High Dynamic Range can add realism and vividness to the 4K picture. )

It was unclear then if DIRECTV would air additional games in 4K HDR. However, a DIRECTV spokeswoman said last night that the entire 64-match tournament would be available in 4K HDR on the satcaster’s live 4K channel, which is 106.

Dish has also told the TVAnswerman.com that it will air World Cup games in 4K, but has yet to offer details.
