DIRECTV this morning added four new HD channels, bringing its total of 24/7 HD channels to more than 210.
The satcaster added the following channels in high-def: MAVTV, GAC, POP, and TV One.
MAVTV, which is on DIRECTV’s channel 214, features programming targeted to motor sports’ enthusiasts. Programs include Australian Sprintcars, Best in the Desert, British Motorcross Championship, and Barrel Roll. (MAVTV is owned by Lucas Oil.)
GAC, which is on DIRECTV’s channel 326, and is also known as Great American Country, offers shows of interest to country music fans. Shows include Farm Kings, Top 20 Country Countdown, Daily Countdown, and National Finals Rodeo.
POP, which is on DIRECTV’s channel 273, features general entertainment programming such as Queens of Drama, Hollywood Darlings, Hot Date (pictured above), and The Story Behind. The channel, which is co-owned by CBS and Lionsgate, also airs some classic TV shows such as ER and The Brady Bunch.
TV One, which is on DIRECTV’s channel 328, airs shows targeted to the African-American audience, such as Justice By Any Means, Donnie After Dark, Unsung Hollywood, and Hollywood Diva. The channel also features some classic TV shows including The Cosby Show, The Jeffersons, Good Times.
All four channels had previously been in DIRECTV’s lineup as standard-definition channels.
