Netflix has decided to cancel the original comedy, Haters Back Off, after two seasons and 16 episodes, Deadline.com reports.
The show starred Colleen Ballinger as a neurotic young performer who seeks fame and fortune on YouTube. Prior to the Netflix series, Ballinger enjoyed a huge following on YouTube with the show’s character, named Miranda Sings, which led to Ballinger signing with the home video service.

Netflix did not offer a reason for the cancellation, but Deadline speculates that Ballinger’s YouTube audience began to drift away in season two.

The nation’s TV critics were not particularly kind to Haters Back Off, whose first season generated a 47 score out of a possible 100 at RottenTomatoes.com. Nine out of 17 reviewers surveyed by the site said they did not like the show.
“Haters Back Off is bizarre, painful, and often times excruciatingly funny-yet the appeal of the YouTube transport doesn’t quite carry over in the longer television format,” the site states, summarizing the reviews.
Netflix released the second, and now final, season of Haters Back Off on October 14, 2017.
