Sling TV has removed support for the Mac, and PCs running Windows 8 operating systems or below, the live streaming service has announced.
The Mac app for Sling has been available since the service launched in early 2015. But Sling has acknowledged that Mac subscribers, particularly those using OS High Sierra, have experienced difficulties trying to stream.

“We’re aware that MAC users with OS High Sierra are experiencing issues streaming, and we apologize for any inconvenience,” Sling stated earlier this year in a notice in its ‘Help Center.’
Now when Mac users try to use the Sling TV app, they are met with an on-screen display that says, ‘This App is no longer supported by Sling TV.’

“We’re trying to improve the viewing experience for our customers, and unfortunately, this required discontinuing support for the MAC and Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1 PC apps,” @SlingAnswers, the service’s Twitter customer service page, tweeted yesterday.
Sling advises Mac owners, and PC users using older versions of Windows, to download the latest version of Google Chrome, which will enable them to watch the Chrome Chrome browser player at Sling.com.
However, that’s cold comfort for some Mac and PC users who have voiced their concerns at social media sites.
“Bah, terrible decision! Why are you no longer supporting Mac OS? I’m none too excited about staying signed-in on Chrome all the time,” tweeted @TonyBoloney5 yesterday.
“I don’t want to use @googlechrome. That’s why I have a Mac!” added @JustCallMeDanaH.

Sling loses a large audience of Mac users. Instead of looking for a fix they elect to just drop it. Other streaming services are on the way, so Slings way of handling issues will eventually make them a mere memory.
