Dish has reached a multi-year agreement with Citadel Communications for carriage of the ABC affiliate in Providence, Rhode Island, ABC6 (WLNE-TV.)

The two sides had been working on a new agreement since late August when the old pact expired. Dish and Citadel signed a handful of temporary agreements to avoid a blackout.

However, the negotiations became contentious and, at one point, Dish said it would install an antenna for free for any Providence customer with qualifying equipment and programming plans.

To illustrate its frustration with carriage disputes, Dish also said it would offer customers nationwide $10 off their monthly bill if they agree to drop their local channels from their programming package.

Terms of the new carriage agreement were not disclosed, but the companies were fighting over how much Dish should pay to carry ABC6.

Dish said in a press release that the carriage agreement will also cover Citadel’s ABC station in Lincoln, Nebraska.
