The show, which was based on Sophia Amoruso’s same-named autobiography, starred Britt Robertson as a impoverished young woman who decides to start a vintage clothing business online.
Netflix never released viewer numbers for the show (because it doesn’t reveal ratings for any show), but it was not a hit with the critics. RottenTomatoes.com, which tracks critical reviews, gave the show a score of just 32 percent. Nineteen of 28 critics surveyed said they did not like Girlboss.
“Girlboss has its charms, but they’re ultimately undone by a fundamental mishandling of the show’s problematic protagonist,” RottenTomatoes.com states.
This is the latest in a flurry of cancellations by Netflix which once seemed reluctant to ax its original shows. The home video service also canceled Sense8 and The Get Down in the last two months.
