DIRECTV has revealed its upcoming lineup for live events in 4K and, for the first time, it includes a thoroughbred horse race. This will be the first national broadcast of a horse race in 4K by a pay TV provider in the United States.

The satcaster says at its web site that it deliver a 4K broadcast the July 2nd running of the 158th Queen’s Plate from the Woodbine Race Track in Toronto, Canada. (Start time will be announced later; the race will be on DIRECTV’s live 4K channel, channel 106.)
Update: The broadcast begins Sunday, July 2, at 2:30 p.m. ET.
The Queen’s Plate, Canada’s oldest horse race, is the first jewel in Canada’s Triple Crown. The 1 1/4-mile race, which is limited to Canadian-foaled three-year-olds, is expected to field such top horses as Aurora Way, Holy Helena and Malibu Secret.

Bellator
DIRECTV will also air tomorrow’s Mixed Martial Arts PPV broadcast of Bellator NYC: Sonnen vs. Silva in 4K (channel 106).
The night’s card, which will be held in Madison Square Garden, will be headlined by the long-awaited match between Chael Sonnen (29-15-1) and Wanderlei Silva (35-12-1).
DIRECTV’s 4K presentation of the Bellator, which will air on the satcaster’s live 4K channel, channel 106, will cost $59.99. The high-def version will cost $49.99.
Volleyball and Baseball
On July 15 and 16, the satcaster will air the World Series of Volleyball in 4K (channel 106) from Long Beach, California. (Start times to be announced.).

I hope DTV 4k broadcasts are not done in association with Fox. Those 4k broadcasts are of very poor quality, grainy and honestly doesn’t even look like good HD! Don’t know what their problem is. Wish you would comment on the 4k quality of Fox on DTV Channel 106.
