Sense8 is the second Netflix original program that the home video service has axed in the last week. Netflix also canceled the drama, The Get Down, after one season and 11 episodes.

While Netflix did not divulge specific reasons for the two cancellations, both shows were regarded as exceedingly costly to produce with total viewership so-so at best. (Netflix does not disclose per show viewer numbers.)

The show, which featured an ensemble cast of largely unknown actors, was met with a generally positive reaction from the critics.

RottenTomatoes.com, which tracks critical reviews, gave season one a score of 67 out of a possible 100. However, season two, which was added to Netflix last month, scored a 86 with 12 of 14 reviewers surveyed by the site saying they liked the show.
