Fox has canceled the comedy, Making History, after one nine-episode season.
Making History starred Leighton Meester and Adam Pally as time travelers who try to balance life’s mundane concerns with the excitement of hopping from century to century.
While the premise may have seemed a bit ridiculous, RottenTomatoes.com gave the show a score of 92 percent out of a possible 100. Twenty-three of 25 reviewers in the site’s survey said they liked Making History.
“A joyful, self-aware comedy that falls squarely under the ‘don’t worry if it makes sense’ approach to time travel stories,” wrote Ben Travers of Indiewire.
But Making History seemed doomed from the start with Fox cutting the original 13-episode order to nine last October. The show’s debut captured only slightly more than two million viewers and the now series finale netted roughly 1.5 million.
