The show, which was based on a novel of the same name (and a 1979 movie starring Malcolm McDowell), featured Freddie Stroma as 19th Century sci-fi writer H.G. Wells (Time Machine, War of the Worlds.)
The plot: Wells invents a time machine to reach the modern world so he can capture the notorious Jack the Ripper who now lives there because he somehow bolted from the 19th Century.

If you’re a bit confused, you’re not alone. The debut episode of Time After Time generated fewer than three million viewers while the now final installment picked up fewer than two million.
Deadline.com says Time After Time will be replaced on Sunday nights by The Match Game, and there are no plans to air the drama’s remaining episodes.
