Q. I really like my TV, but the power light keeps blinking, even when the power is off. Is this a big problem? What can I do? — Ken, New York.

Ken, it could be, but there are a few things you can do to troubleshoot it.

First, unplug your TV for several minutes and then plug it back in. In many cases, the TV will re-set itself and the power light will stop blinking whether it’s on or off.

If that doesn’t work, there could be a connection problem with the set. Make sure the TV has a secure connection to whatever power source you’re using (Surge protector, wall socket). The power light could be blinking because the connection is not sound.

Finally, there could be a problem with your TV’s connections to other devices. Make sure those are secure as well.

If those steps don’t solve the problem, there could be a problem with the set itself and you may need to get a technician.

By the way, I assume you’re saying the power light blinks continuously, not just for a few seconds, because some TV power lights will blink when you first turn it on. If that’s the case, don’t worry about it. It’s just part of the start-up process.
